Aquatic exercise provides a warm, humid room where individuals with asthma may find it easier to breathe. The humidity will prevent severe bronchoconstriction, and enhance ventilatory muscle endurance and mucus clearace. Aquatic exercise improves lung capacity, circulation, cough reflex, and breath control. All of these improvements and enhancements will allow asthmatic patients to increase their endurance during a wokout. After training, aquatic exercise increases aerobic capacity, overall fitness, balance, and coordination. Individuals should work out on their own pace to prevent asthma attacks. Asthmatic patients should always warm-up and cool down to allow for adaptation to the environment.
